Covid-19 Updates

31st December 2020 Statement

It did not come as a great surprise to find that more of the country were in tier 4. The Club will have to remain closed for lessons until further notice and if I heard correctly a date has not been set aside for review. LGC for one do not want to be held in limbo and we will therefore be looking to re-open in January for virtual gymnastics. We will run zoom sessions for Squad classes recreation and pre school classes.

Squads will receive a daily dozen survival of the fittest kit.

We will look to run Badge zooms in order that progress can be maintained.

We would ask you to encourage your children to engage with the zoom activities. Much can be done to progress gymnastics without the use of apparatus. Both Flexibility and Strength are important components and should be maintained to a high level.

Members should have received an email with all information attached. Please check your junk mail. If you have any questions please email us enquiries@lutongymnastics.co.uk.

11th December 2020 Statement

We are delighted to confirm that all classes are now running from both sites. We are now enrolling new members during December. Our site at the Stockwood Park Academy will close for Christmas on the 19th December and will reopen on the 4th January. Our site Concorde Street will close on the 23rd December inclusive and reopen on the 4th. Members who wish to attend at Concorde who would normally attend at Stockwood on the week of the 21st can attend classes at 5.00pm or 6.00pm. Please confirm your intention by email to enquiries@lutongymnastics.co.uk.

2nd December 2020 Statement

We are delighted that the latest Government announcement has confirmed that the Lockdown will end on the 2/12/2020. As we await to hear what tier our town will falls into I would like to reassure our members that Sports Activities for the under 18’s can continue in any of the tiers and we therefore propose to re-open LGC with effect from the 3/12/2020.

3rd November 2020 Important News

It is with such sadness that I am writing to you to confirm that our classes will not run with effect from Thursday 5th November until the 3rd December 2020. Classes running on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday for the week commencing the 2nd November 2020 will now take place at our 6 Concorde St Site Luton LU2 0JD. Class times will remain the same to minimise the disruption. We would like to thank all of you who attended last week for our grand re -opening and hope that you are able to attend at Concorde St. To those who were busy for the half term your start date will now be the 7th December 2020, although this will be subject to the guidance and the availability of the centre. We will of course update you nearer the time.

Nothing is set in stone but given the level of enquiries we have received over the last couple of months I am optimistic for the future of the Club and hope to start building and moving forward as soon as the lock down is finished.

I am continuously overwhelmed and humbled by the words of encouragement we have received. The continued support from our members when it would have been so easy to give up and just come back when it is all over has been a huge factor in remaining positive. Without our members commitment LGC may have looked very different now. It gives the team the encouragement to strive towards making the Club the best that it can be and to come back from this stronger than ever before.

I have only just had my trial lesson - What should I do now?

If you attended a trial lesson recently and wish to join the Club you can attend the class when we’re open in December when you will pay your first month’s fees along with the registration charge.

My trial lesson was in November - Do I need to rebook?

Anyone who has been offered a trial class during the lockdown period will be contacted with a new trial date from December onward.

My child has been offered a squad class which was due to start in November?

Anyone who has been offered a squad place will start at their new time directly on their return from the lockdown. The coaches spent a lot of their time planning and preparing for the new groups and curriculum in the last lockdown and I know they are keen to get started and cant wait to get ready to resume competition.

Christmas is round the corner... What happens there?

It is likely that Stockwood Park will close for Christmas on the 21st December which for weekday classes will mean that there will only be 2 weekday classes between the lockdown ending and the Christmas break starting. For Saturdays it will be 3 classes. We have decided that we will accommodate classes at 6 Concorde St for the week commencing 21st rather than taking our usual 2-week break, given that we have already lost so many weeks to the pandemic.

I have already made my payment for November:

If a payment has been made the amount will automatically be deferred to your December payment. We hope this all makes sense. If you do have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kindest regards
Helen & Joanna Matthews Luton Gymnastics Club
